PMMI target-setting guidance
Target-setting can sound easy in theory but is difficult to do in practice, and many targets do not result in improved performance.
To help with this the Performance Management, Measurement and Information (PMMI) project team has created a set of guidance to help with target setting. There is a guidance briefing, a checklist to help with target setting and a presentation with a workshop you can use with staff who need to set or use targets.
- read the target setting guidance Target setting: a practical guide (PDF, 17 pages, 179 KB)
- use the target-setting checklist (PDF, 6 pages,125 KB) when setting or reviewing targets.
- download the presentation and workshop for target setting (PDF, 37 pages, 203 KB) and the same presentation in a notes page format with workshop instructions (PDF, 37 pages, 159 KB).
