Voluntary and community sector: case studies

A key theme of the October 2006 local government white paper is Strengthened partnerships and strategic decision making. The four elements of partnership working are:

  • the local strategic partnership
  • the Sustainable Communities strategy
  • the local development framework
  • the local area agreement.

These all involve the third sector as a full partner, shaping and delivering key priorities. The following case studies give examples of this.

The IDeA is collecting short descriptions of  work local government and the voluntary and community sector are doing together. These will support our recently developed pages on service delivery, social capital and community engagement.  Because they highlight different stages of the process, we are calling them 'journeys to improvement'. Some have only just started, some are well on the way, and some have finished.
