Strategic people management
The national local government workforce strategy advises councils to adopt a 'strategic people management' approach to ensure that their workforce is focused on achieving the council's objectives and improving services.
An effective workforce strategy, integrated with the overall corporate strategic plan, will help councils ensure that they have the right people, in the right places, with the right skills, at the right time. This is often known as a people strategy. This strategic approach provides a launchpad for organisational development.
