Workforce Matters community of practice

Local Government Improvement and Development facilitates the Workforce Matters community of practice (CoP) and sub-communities. These aim to help practitioners in councils share good practice, ideas, practical solutions and innovation across a range of different workforce-related subject areas.

The Workforce Matters CoP exists to support councils delivery improved services through the effective management and development of their people. It provides information, innovation and good practice on talent management, workforce planning, organisational change, skills and a wide range of other workforce related issues.

The CoP offers the opportunity for all those with an interest in the local government workforce to share ideas and experiences with like-minded peers.

It also supports a number of more specific workforce-related sub-communities:

  • GO award
  • Recruitment and retention in public protection services
  • SkillsPlus UK
