Sustainable procurement strategy for local government
This strategy document was published in November 2007 by the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), the Local Government Association (LGA) and the North East Centre of Excellence.
The strategy will be complemented by an implementation route map, which will be developed in partnership with the LGA. The route map will describe the actions which need to be taken to achieve the objectives set out in this strategy. The national goal is for the UK to lead the EU in sustainable procurement by 2009.
It is a response to:
- the recommendations of the Sustainable Procurement Taskforce (links to the website of the Sustainable Development Unit)
- the UK Government's action plan (links to the website of the Sustainable Development Unit, see under 2007 publications)
