Facilitating the development of the rural economy

This report identifies the big impact which rural councils can have in developing and sustaining rural communities and businesses in market towns and villages.

The report was commissioned by the IDeA in partnership with Defra, the Local Government Association, the Countryside Agency and the eight 'Supporting the rural economy' Beacon councils.

This partnership has gone on to produce the toolkit and the self help booklet listed below.

This toolkit  provides checklists against which the capacity of a rural local authority, to bring about regeneration, can be assessed as well as guidance on working with RDAs.
