Adrian Barker
A-Z of surnames:
Strategy Manage – Strategy and Development Unit
Adrian Barker has responsibility across a range of policy and strategy work areas.
His work includes:
- helping the agency understand and prepare for changes in the strategic environment of improvement
- understanding and promoting what works in performance improvement, and how this will change in future
- working with the LG Association and other partners in bringing practical evidence to bear on influencing policy developments in areas such as the national improvement strategy and new information framework
- research liaison and co-ordination
- other work within the field of strategy, policy and development
Before moving to the LGMB he worked as an organisational development officer at the London Borough of Camden. Prior to that he was assistant to the chief executive at Newbury District Council. He has twelve years' experience in local government.
In his work at LG Improvment and Development he has been responsible for producing publications, web resources, a video and a CD-ROM covering such areas as consultation, the production of performance plans, challenge, best value, and the integration of best value with other areas such as sustainable development, environmental management and equalities. He has also written and spoken widely about best value, performance management and improvement.
