Plain English

This resource looks at writing plain English. It is aimed specifically at people working in local government. Whether you are a recently elected councillor trying to get to grips with new terminology, or a council officer writing information for the public, this guide is for you. It offers:

  • a guide to understanding the importance of plain English
  • tests to gauge your plain English ability
  • a crash course in the plain English basics to improve your writing
  • features and case studies on developing plain English personally and in your organisation
