Total Place: Targeted early intervention and prevention – an integrated approach

Date: 5 March 2010, 10:30 am 3:00 pm
Venue: Layden House, London
Cost: free

Despite unprecedented financial investment in targeted early intervention and prevention over the last 10 years, outcomes for vulnerable children, young people and families remain poor. While there is better understanding of what risks in early life contribute to poor outcomes for young people and families later on, the challenge of responding in an effective and systemic way in all localities remains.

Total Place offers an opportunity to explore the organisational, cultural and financial opportunities to do things differently with a focus on needs and outcomes.

This seminar will offer the opportunity to hear:

  • about the evidence base for targeted support and early intervention – what works
  • from representatives of several councils about how they are developing this theme in their localities using the Total Place process – the how.

This will:

  • be an interactive seminar
  • give opportunities to discuss issues arising
  • share knowledge and experiences of various processes and models with a particular focus on joining up adult and children’s needs and how we respond to these in a holistic and integrated way in a locality.
