Respect and Protect
Children’s social workers have some of the toughest jobs in the country, and for councils they continue to be some of the toughest posts to fill. In the wake of the tragic case of Baby Peter, the LG Group launched the 'Respect and Protect' campaign to try to help councils address problems with recruitment and retention. Tackling issues affecting frontline staff is crucial to strengthening the safety net which already protects thousands of children from harm on a daily basis.
As part of the campaign, all councils are being offered free posters and web banners aimed at boosting the image of the social work profession, and encouraging the respect social workers deserve.
